Przyjemnie jest się obudzić w Atenach/It's a pleasure to wake up in Athens

Pierwszy dzień, a raczej poranek w Atenach. Lądujemy o 3 nad ranem – uroki tanich linii lotniczych!
Podobał mi się też ogromny byk – Dionizos, ciekawe muzeum z oryginałami nagrobkowa i z dwoma sfinksami wieńczącymi bramę wjazdową do Aten.

The first day or rather the first morning In Athens. We landed at 3 a.m. – charms of cheap airlines! We took bus no. X 95 to the Syntagma Square and than a taxi to Phaedra Hotel. Unfortunately we drove with a dishonest taxi driver who requested from us EUR 15! This is a scandal because there is 3 – minute distance from Synagma to our hotel but exhausted after the trip I had not enough power to quarrel with the driver. The hotel is located in the Plaka district at the beginning of the street market and to be more precise between the Hadrian’s Arch and the Lysiikrates monument. We have a view over Acropolis from our balcony, unfortunately the room with the view has no interior bathroom we need to go through the hotel’s corridor. After two days we switched the room to the one with a bathroom but without the balcony and without the view. Or maybe more precisely – we have a fantastic view over the Dymitry’s shop with sandals. Unfortunately most of the tourists visit Athens for one or two days and therefore there is a permanent rumor in the hotel – also in the nights you can hear opening and closing of doors and the suitcases pulled in the corridor.
In the morning we went to Kerameikos (EUR 2) which is an ancient cemetery which beginnings are dated at XII century BC. The hardest things is to get there – when I visited Athens last time I was looking for an entry to that archeological site and also this time it took me some time to find it:) The most characteristic items are lutophoras – the tombstones in the shape of amphora, which were placed on the graves of unmarried women. I liked also a huge bull – Dionisos, an interesting small museum with originals of the tombstones and two Sphinxes crowning the gate to Athens.
Than we walked a little bit in Plaka district and we went also for a while to the Folk Pottery Museum (EUR 2) – sound awful but it is located in an interesting mosque and there are a few things worth seeing – I liked plates in the shape of fishes.
