Odwiedzamy Hydrę -cz. I/We are visiting Idra - part 1
You know how much I love Greek Islands which is rather obvious if you visit my blog. I must admit however that there is one issue which makes me upset all the time and namely these are motorbikes that are present everywhere you move. And if this is indifferent for me during days as I am far from being 20 and rolling around or motorbike is not my vacation dream, during nights it becomes a real horror. Especially if you decide to stay in the capitals of islands, which is always my choice (it is not an addiction, it happens that everyday I need to buy something absolutely necessary;-)
You are going to bed, even late at night, finally feeling comfortable and suddenly you hear this terrible whirr. You can as well try to fall asleep on the main road of your home town. And it lasts until 3-4 in the morning when you can hear the last drunk tourists coming back to their apartments, 2-3 hours break and again the same noice. Some Greeks also need to use motorbike to buy a coffee and than sipping it also on the motorbike. You can of course close the windows and turn on the air - conditioning but my husband is always against it.
Why I am writting about it? Because there is such a paradise Island where (hurrah!) there is a ban to use motorbikes and cars (but the last ones are so silent, looking at this in a comparative manner) and it is Idra.
Hydra jest wyspą archipelagu argosarońskiego, położoną relatywnie blisko Aten (wodolotem dotrzecie tutaj w półtorej godziny, lądem jest to ok. 150 km).
Idra is one of the Saronic Islands, located relatively close to Athens (you can reach it in 1,5 hour by a flying dolphin) and by car it is app. 150 km).
Idra has much more advenatges than just a lack of motorbikes, I hope I will manage to familiarize you with them in my next posts.
Na Hydrę dotarliśmy w 2015 roku, w ramach naszej wyprawy na Poros i spędziliśmy tam kilka godzin.
We were on Idra in 2015 on our trip to Poros and we spent there just few hours.
It was enough however to familiarize with the capital of the island, get fascinated with both the capital and the nature and decide that we would return there someday. It happens to me that I usually go for full time holidays to islands that I visited during short one-day trips from other islands.
Do you feel the same about motorbikes in the Mediterranean countries or do you accept it as a part of local atmosphere?
