Muzeum Frissarisa w Atenach znajduje się nieopodal traktu handlowego, obok ulicy Królowej Amalii. Frissaris był prawnikiem – fundatorem, admiratorem sztuki współczesnej, co odzwierciedla kolekcja. Pierwsze piętro to portrety matki artysty aktualnie wystawiającego się w galerii. Mnie jednak najbardziej spodobała się kolekcja z górnego piętra – wielkie malowidła przedstawiające tłum kolorowych postaci oraz sfora psów pożerających człowieka – artysta chyba zainspirował się psami grasującymi w teatrze Dory Statou, o których pisałam jakiś czas temu:) Wieczorem zawitałyśmy do knajpy dziadka – Peristerii w bocznej uliczce w okolicach katedry – miejsce zatrzymane w czasie, bez jakichkolwiek przejawów komercji turystycznej, jedzenie dnia w metalowych rynienkach, okolica obskurna, ale pójść należy. Skonsumowałam wybitną mussakę i briam z warzyw – cukinia, ziemniaki i bakłażan (jak sobie teraz pomyślę, to chyba był ostatni bakłażan w tym roku, gdyż, co prawda, mamy jeszcze miesiąc szansy, ale w grudniu w PL bakłażan nie jest warzywem typowym, zwłaszcza w kontekście potraw świątecznych).

The Museum of Frissaris in Athens is located close to the street market and the Street of the Queen Amalia. Frissaris was a lawyer – founder of the object and lover of modern art, what is visible when you visit the collection. On the first floor you can admire some portraits of the mother of the artist. I preferred however the second floor – huge paintings showing crowd of colorful persons and pack of dogs or wolfs devouring – I think that the artist must have been inspired by the dogs looting in the Dora Statou Theater – I wrote about it some time ago:) In the evening we visited the taverna of an old guy, which I knew from the previous visit in Athens – Peristeria which is located in one of side streets in the neighborhood of the cathedra – the place looks like it must have looked in the old times without any commercial symptoms, menu of the day kept in metal bowls, the neighborhood a little bit dingy but it is for me a place one should definitely see in Athens. We had an outstanding mussaka and briam made of vegetables – zucchini, potatoes and eggplant (when I think about it now, probably it was the last eggplant this year because although we still have one month of 2009, it is hard to say that eggplants are popular vegetables in Poland, especially when you take into consideration the Season’s food).
