Wizyta w Muzeum Archeologicznym w Atenach-cz.IV/Visit in the Archeological Museum in Athens - part IV

Nad niektórymi rzeźbami warto pochylić się bardziej niż nad innymi. Przed nami tzw.

Some of the sculptures are worth looking closer at. Here it is, so called Jockey, found in 1928 on the Artemision cape. You do not have to be very observant to see that the jockey is urging the horse, he is tired, they are almost crossing the finishing line. The boy is looking round where are the competitors. The most surprising for me is the age of the jockey – he is much to young to do it as a professional.

780 to tzw. Efeb z Anthykytery. A podejrzewano nawet Anglików, wywożących greckie skarby w XIX wieku.

Ephebus from Anthykytera. It was found by accident – 2 ships sheltered themselves from storm in a bay, there the crew spotted on the bottom of the sea a ship, and in the wreck this sculpture was also found. Hard to believe but the final hypothesis of the archeologist is very simple – the Romans exported for sale the antiques on the markets of the Empire. And the Englishmen were suspected, who were taking away Greek treasures in XIX century.

788/789 Grupa Afrodyta, Eros i Pan, znalezieni na Delos (byłam tam 2 razy, raz z okazji wizyty na Mykonos, raz z wycieczką z Tinos). Afrodyta odgania Pana sandałem! A Eros odpycha go za róg.

Aphrodite, Eros and Pan group, found on Delos Island (I was there twice – once when I was visiting Mykonos, once when I was on a trip to Tinos). Aphrodite is driving away Pan with her sandal and Eros is pushing away his horn.
