Pod piramidami/Under pyramids

Guimar-an archeological site on Tenerife, close to the capital of the island. Unexpectedly, taking into consideration this part of the world, there are possibilities to admire pyramids. Those pyramids are not like in Egypt, they more remind those located in the Southern America.

Tym razem sztuczny;-)/This time artificial;-)

The entrance to the archeological site is located in the upper part of the town and costs 10 Euro. It looks a little bit extraordinary – the site is surrounded by not very pretty houses, in the background beautiful mountains loom and in the middle of a huge fields the pyramids are located.

Skeptics will see here only piles of stones or constructions made by the contemporary inhabitants in order to earn something from this unfertile earth.

For me, if the second option is not true, the possibility that those are real pyramids seems to be rational – why people couldn’t build them also here? Why we can believe in 2010 that when we talk about archeology, we have discovered already everything?

Znudzonym bądź wątpiącym w prawdziwość obiektów, pozostaje zawsze spacer wśród tutejszej roślinności.

For those bored or doubting as to the authenticity of those objects a walk among the plants is always accessible.

Chyba kolejne ‘must see’ na Teneryfie po El Teide i Garachico!

From the maps in the museum it seems that similar objects were built also in America, China, in the Mediterranean countries, on La Palma and even in the continental Spain. For me real sensation – another “must see’ on Tenerife besides El Teide and Grachico!

Nowadays only 6 of 9 pyramids remained – 3 were demolished for cheap construction material. That is how the skeptics explain the constructions – as a place where the locals collected useless stones, but a question arises why they had to keep them in a form of regular stairs?

Ciężko mi uwierzyć, że obiekty powstały w XIX wieku;-)
Hard to belive that the objects were built in XIX century;-)

The pyramids on Tenerife became famous thanks to the Norwegian scientist and traveler – Mr. Thor Heyerdahl. By his many travels on primitive boats construed in the manner they were built in the ancient times, he proved, or at least he was trying hard to prove, that there are cultural relations of those areas with America, long before Columbus discovered that continent.

There is so much we do not know from our past ancestors.

The pyramids seem to be a phenomena that is an occurrence from around the world in every continent.
That which strikes one as strange or unusual, is why there is so little research or study done. Yes a big thank you to Norwegian scientist and traveler – Mr. Thor Heyerdahl. Was that his boat in your last photograph?

Thank you for sharing I loved seeing these photo's and reading your story, a shame though the people took some of the stones.

I image this happened often around the world, where people took from ancient sites to build their homes to survive.

    Cheers,
    joanny
