Spacerkiem po Santa Cruz-cz. I/Walking in Santa Cruz - part I

Slowly I am coming to the end of our memories from Tenerife. I would like to take you for a walk in Santa Cruz in two parts.

Taking the opportunity I would like to say that our summer holidays we will spend in Greece – tickets to Athens are already bought, and then, one of the islands – which one? Let it be for now our small secret. We are abandoning the Canary Islands for a year, to bask in the sun, eat a lot of gyros, listen to cycads, visit archeological sites - everything that we missed a little bit on the Canary Islands. We will return there for sure to see the natural miracles, volcanic landscape, nature and … besides they are rather cheap. And – never say never – maybe we will have to change our plans if again Greece faces public transport strikes.

Wystarczy jednak opuścić dworzec, by znaleźć się w innym świecie.

Coming back to the capital of Tenerife, we were not convinced to visiting it. It appeared however that the capital is worth it. At the beginning we saw it from the perspective of the main bus station – a place which we had to visit during our trips on the island – hot and full of fumes. Therefore we decided to visit the capital at the end of our stay. Suffice it to say that when you leave the bus station, you are in a wholly different world.

Ulicami handlowymi najpierw doszliśmy do Parku Garcia Sanabria.

We were walking on the commercial streets as long as we reached Park Garcia Sanabria. It is worth visiting to see a flower clock – for me something wholly new and surprising. There are also some sculptures made in Gaudi’s manner and fountains and sculptures from the twenties.

Przestronne place i ulice, zapewniają przestrzeń publiczną i miejsce do wypoczynku w cieniu roślin.

Spacious streets and squares are giving a lot of public space and a place to relax in the shadow of the plants. In my opinion this place is worth seeing more that La Laguna which is on the UNESCO list.

Santa Cruz is full of life and one cannot deny its beauty.

Najbardziej jednak cenię Plaza 25 de Julio, z ceramicznymi ławeczkami upstrzonymi reklamami sklepów i bajeczną fontanną.

I liked most however Plaza 25 de Julio with ceramic benches covered with advertisements of local shops and fabulous fountain.

Zaczarowna żabka poniżej, czeka na swojego księciunia z bajki;-)
A frog from a fairy tale underneath is waiting for its prince:-)

Dawniej reklamy były o wiele ładniejsze...
The advertisements used to be much prettier....

i bardziej komfortowe...
and more comfortable...

Miłego weekendu!
Have a nice weekend!

  17. I like the flower clock, Ola, which I have seen in other places. Always most interesting. And I agree about the Gaudi influence. So much color and whimsy. We eat at a nearby Greek cafe where we know the owner and his son. We really want to visit Greece one of these years. I'll definitely pay attention to your own planned trip.
