Nostalgia/Nostalgia

Today about many things.

Quite by chance last week we came accros those dunes close to Warsaw. We wanted to find some mushrooms but they were already so dry that it made no sense to pick them up - we will do that earlier next year:)

Krajobraz pustyni, ale słońce za mgłą/Dessert landscape but the sun enveloped in fog

Ktoś przed nami odkrył to miejsce:)/Somebody before us discovered this place

Wola przeżycia jest ogromna/Will to survive is great

Cała filozofia jej sporządzenia to przygotowanie lekkiego rosołu drobiowego. Oddzielnie gotujemy ryż. Zaprawiamy śmietaną zmieszaną z mąką i dodajemy stopniowo sok z cytryny-byle nie przesadzić:) Smak mojego dzieciństwa.

Lately I neglected culinary subjects, partly because I did not want to spend long time in kitchen during summer. Now I decided to do that again. First I tried lemon soup. The whole philosophy of preparing this soup is to make light chicken broth. Then you add cream mixed with flour and step by step lemon juice - you have to watch out in order not to exaggerate:) Taste of my childhood.

Another idea is joint of pork with sausage. Because we hardly ever like ready smoked ham and sausages we often do traditional Polish joit of pork - baked with marjoram. This one is additonally with sweet and spicy paprika.

I am finishing for now, maybe tommorow it will be sunny:)

Mięso smarujemy oliwą i nacieramy przyprawami (ostra i słodka papryka, sól, pieprz, zioła prowansalskie, oregano) – odstawiamy na kilka godzin do lodówki. Pół kostki masła kroimy na kawałki i obkładamy mięso w formie do pieczenia. Piekarnik rozgrzewamy do 240 stopni i pieczemy ok. 30 min, potem zmniejszamy temperaturę do 200 stopni i pieczemy jeszcze godzinę, smacznego!

On request I am adding a recipe for joint of pork.

You need to makes wholes longwise in the meat with a sharp knife in which you put the sausages. Meat should be spread with olive oil and with spices (sharp and sweet paprika, salt, pepper, Provence herbs and oregano) –it has to stay in a cold place for a few hours. A half of butter should be cut into pieces and placed on the meat. You bake it in 240 Celsius degrees for half an hour and than in 200 Celsius degrees one hour more. Bon appetite!

  5. Hello Ola:

Beautiful dunes to explore. Interesting though about the mushrooms, our time to gather is traditionally the first week of the October, here up in the mountains. I live very close to Mt Hood, it is an easy drive from my home. The dunes, the beach is further away.

Love that soup you prepared, does look delicious, I think I will try the recipe.

Very nice photography you took us on your journey walking the beach path.

    cheers,
    joanny

  9. I love when different foods that we are used to conjure up such good feelings. We all need a rest from the kitchen, I think, but it's always good to go back and create. I would gladly eat both of your delicacies here, Ola. :)

  12. In Poland soups are very popular and lemon soup was also popular - now a bit forgotten but in my childhood I often ate that, especially at family parties. I will try to describe how to make the pork later on today:)
