Zjazd do Malga Ciapella-Dolomity
Way down to Malga Ciapella-Dolomites

Beautiful views of Italian Dolomites, however it is easy to go up there by a ski lift, it would befit to ski down the slope;-) Therefore when Jacek chose snowy valleys and hills, this time I decided to stay at home, especially as this was a male trip only. And as life is not only about working…

Widok na Sella Gruppe/Views over Sella Gruppe

Passo Padon

It wasn’t that bad in Warsaw and I had some ideas how to fulfill my lonely evenings;-) First of all I haven’t been in the cinema for very long time so I finally had to do it. I somehow like most a cinema that is located in the soviet “gift” to Warsaw – Palace of Science and Culture which put on new lights on a visit of such an important guest;-)

Niestety moje dietetyczne postanowienie poprawy na 2011 rok poszło z dymem, gdy wyprodukowałam ten torcik chałwowy. (świetny przepis tu: http://kuchniaaleex.blogspot.com/2010/12/torcik-chawowy-wg-aleex.html). Ok, na własne urodziny można zrobić wyjątek:-)

Unfortunately my dietetical resolution for 2011 was lost when I made this halva cake. Ok, for your own birthday you can make an exception;-)

No i oczywiście co można robić wieczorami po pracy? Zakupy!

And of course what you can do after work? Shopping! Some of them for moderate prices (H&M and vintage if you can call it so courteously;-)

Some of them more expensive but surely they will be used for many years - I could not resist those colors;-) And then my husband was finally home:)

Życzę wsyztkim udanej niedzieli i nadchodzącego tygodnia!
Wish you a nice Sunday and week!

And here in English how the cake is made:

Ingredients:

Cake:

8 eggs

1 glass of sugar and 1 vanilla sugar

• 2 ready big chocolate puddings in powder

• 1/3 glass of potato flour

• 2 teaspoons of banking powder

• 1 spoon of cacao

Filling:

• 2,5 glass of milk

• 1 spoon of what flour

• 1 spoon of potato flour

• ½ package of vanilla pudding in powder (I didn’t add it)

• 3 yolks

• 300 g of butter

• 15 dag vanilla halva (I added a bit more)

Additionally:

• bitter chocolate

1. Prepare the sponge cake: the whites should be well whipped with sugar, add the yolks and than slowly the flour, puddings, cacao and baking powder . The cake should be baked 35-45 minutes in 180 Celsius degrees. Check if it is ready and when it becomes cold, cut it into 2 layers.

2. Prepare the filling: 1,5 glass of milk should be boiled. The second part of the milk mix with yolks, flour, pudding and add to the boiling milk and mix until it thickens. When the prepared pudding is cold, mix with butter and at the end add halva.
3. Put 2/3 of the filling on the first layer of the cake, cover with the second layer of the cake and put the remaining filling on the top. Decorate with the chocolate.

That is all – easy, isn’t it?

  1. I love H&M, Ola! And the colors you picked are the ones I would have chosen, too. Happy Birthday! I didn't know. If I could, I would invite you to cake and coffee at my house.

Ola...I LOVE Halva. Where do you get it? When I was a child my mother would sometimes buy some for me at the supermarket in Los Angeles. I haven't had it in maybe 20 or 30 years. Any suggestions how to get some? And can I have that recipe, oh please!?

Thank you for visiting my blog today. Lovely to have to pop over and I see you left comments on a couple of my posts. Much appreciated!

You weren't kidding when you signed off one of your comments as 'from a snowy Poland' :) Today our temperature is 33 degrees C, vastly different from what you're experiencing.

Your photos are beautiful! Sounds as though you had an enjoyable birthday and amused yourself happily while you had the chance.
