Wigilia w miejskiej rodzinie/Christmas party with my urban family;)

I wonder if you have any, let me call it this way, secular habits connected with Christmas. I admit, that I have. Once a year, I have to meet with my friends. This is absolutely obligatory and no explanations are accepted;)

This time it was mine choice of a place and it wasn’t a surprise that I chose without bigger hesitations, El Greco, which filled me with enthusiasm some time ago here: http://daleka-droga.blogspot.com/2010/05/najlepsza-grecka-tavernathe-best-greek.html . The atmosphere had nothing in common with Christmas and it was not at all momentous as the place is modern and you will not find here a Christmas tree or embroidered tablecloths but I think it was a nice change. Besides we will all have a Christmas tree and carp at home.

Personally this time I chose frutti di mare and I was glad about this choice – I am always afraid that they will be like a rubber but they were prepared well, even the octopus leg, or however it is called, was really well done.

Anyway an ideal picture of El Greco was a little bit spoiled by an exceptionally slow service this time but I could stand it, at least we didn’t came here for a fast-food but even being very tolerant, it was a little bit too slowly.

El Greco to królestwo deserów.
El Greco is a kingdom of desserts.

  4. The food is absolutely beautiful, Ola. I can see why you chose this restaurant. Octopus? Haha! I can't say I've ever tried it. Rubbery would be my first impression. Have a lovely day.

  5. Oni mają wszystko pyszne a obsługa musiała mieć gorszy dzień bo ogólnie są extra :) Robiłaś to serowe z mojego przepisu? Polecam Ci lokal Basilia w Al.

  7. Świetna tradycja. Popieram wybór restauracji - dobrze czasami coś zmienić i postawić na świeżość. Desery wyglądają smakowicie i kusząco :) Pozdrawiam serdecznie.

  9. Good evening Ola. I really like this post of yours about El Greco restaurant.
I dont know how much "greek" can a greek restaurant be when it is somewhere else but I will accept it. Looking at your photographs of the plates, i must admit that your seafood plate looks really genuine and quite appetizing. More so if it was accompanied with some chilled white greek wine.
As for the desert, I would pass the chocolate cake and the baklava, and I would vote the cheesecake.
It is my weakness.... and this one makes my mouth water....

I must thank you also for your visits and nice comments to my blog.

    Costas.

PS. Once a month, usually on last friday of each month, old colleagues from work, (with some we been over 30 years together), meet at some spot downtown Athens, for coffee then some little taverna in the old town and some wine..
The wine helps us all remember the good old days..
Hve a nice evening Ola.. and thank you for the memories.

  12. Ola

Wonderful photographs of the restaurant and family/friends. Interesting that they prepared the octopus and squid legs to perfection , it is in my opinion difficult to get it just right, in a mere few seconds it can turn rubbery.

the desserts looks delicious -- a lovely choice of authentic dining right in your home town.

    warm wishes,

  19. Fajny zwyczaj, ja kiedys z kolezankami spotykalam sie takze w przedswiatecznym czasie aby sie wymienic drobnymi prezencikami.
    Pozdrawiam :)

  27. That cheesecake looks particularly delectable! An I've always loved the way some restaurants kinda scribble on the plate with chocolate smudges.

  30. Hey – good blog, simply wanting around some blogs, seems a pretty nice platform You Are using. I’m at present using Drupal for a few of my websites but seeking to change one in all them over to a platform very a lot the identical to yours as a trial run. Something particularly you'll recommend about it?
